Neha Patel

Dr. Neha Patel was an associate professor of neurology at Johns Hopkins who interviewed Logan Weston for medical school and later mentored him during residency. She knew Julia Weston professionally before meeting Logan and remained in contact with him as his own teaching career developed.

Medical Education and Mentorship

Logan knew Neha’s work from online lectures and published articles before she interviewed him during the Johns Hopkins medical-school admissions process. She recognized him as Julia’s son but evaluated him in his own right. Afterward, she messaged Julia about Logan’s quieter manner, his account of recovery, and his desire to help patients hold on to their sense of self.

In Logan’s second year of residency, Neha found him in her office after a prolonged shift had left him in severe pain and near collapse. She laid a blanket on the couch, told him to set a thirty-minute alarm, and promised to wake him herself. She told him that other exhausted residents had cried, vomited from fatigue, or fainted in her office, and refused to let him collapse in the hallway. She let him sleep, dimmed the lights, and woke him after half an hour without judgment. Logan kept the blanket she gave him.

Years later, Logan used that same blanket when his resident Kam Ali needed permission to rest in his office. He told Neha what he had done, and she replied that she had always known he would carry the care forward. Kam later contacted Neha himself during a severe flare that left Logan resting under his supervision; she thanked Kam for staying with him.

Relationships

Logan Weston

Neha’s connection with Logan began during his medical-school interview and continued through residency and his later work as an attending and educator. He could still turn to her when mentoring Kam and when his own health required help.

Julia Weston

Neha knew Julia through their neurology work before Logan’s interview. Their existing professional relationship gave Neha context about Logan’s family but did not replace her direct assessment of him.
